The world is changing rapidly, and education needs to keep pace. The traditional classroom model simply doesn't equip students with the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. This is why classrooms are undergoing a transformation shift towards fostering critical thinking, collaboration and creativity. Next-generation technology isn't just a shiny add-on; it's a powerful tool that allows teachers to personalize learning, cater to diverse learning styles, and make complex concepts engaging and accessible. Imagine a classroom where virtual reality transports students to the heart of the Amazon rainforest, or adaptive learning software tailors lessons to each student's strengths and weaknesses. These are just a few examples of how technology is revolutionizing the way we learn and teach.
We are so excited to build upon the incredible momentum of the past eight years and return for the 9th Innovative Learning Spaces Summit that will take place on the 18 – 20 of September 2024 in Berlin, Germany.
Join globally recognized universities, researchers, education development specialists, eLearning providers and more as we delve into how modern furniture, flexible layouts and cutting-edge technology are creating dynamic learning environments. We will also explore how to cater to the unique needs of all students, including those with diverse learning styles, physical limitations or mental disabilities. Join us as we explore how classrooms can become truly inclusive spaces that empower every learner to thrive.
We have three amazing days planned for you this year, starting with an interactive workshop day. This year we are hosting the workshop day fully in-person to give you the opportunity to engage with your fellow summit participants while getting a hands-on approach to some of the themes our speakers will be discussing.
Key Themes That Will Be Discussed Throughout the Summit:
- Future Proofing Learning by designing adaptive learning spaces and using modern technology to create personalized learning experiences.
- Immersive Learning by adopting VR, AR and MR technologies to enhance the learning process across various subjects.
- Designing for all Learners by catering to diverse learning styles, abilities and disabilities. The furniture and layout strategy should also be inclusive and flexible.
- Collaborative Learning Hubs designed to promote teamwork, communication and critical thinking skills by fostering collaborative activities through mobile learning pods and flexible furniture.
- The Human Touch in a Tech-Driven World, it is so importance of fostering valuable teacher-student interactions and ensuring technology compliments, rather than replaces, effective teaching practices.
- Measuring the Impact now that learning spaces and technologies have had adequate time to improve student outcomes, what are the results? We must also accurately collect and measure the date to analyse the impact of these new approaches and innovations.
September 18th begins our first main summit day as we dive into recent case studies on innovative ed-tech and smart classroom solutions. We have the pleasure of hearing from Arizona State University, Hult International Business School, University of Georgia and The University of Nottingham in this space and then after lunch, we will be joined by Utrecht University, Purdue University and UCL for some exciting case studies on creating innovative and adaptive learning spaces.
The final day of the summit will include insightful case studies from the University of Leeds, Sheffield Hallam University, Aarhus University, Henning Larsen Architects, HAN University of Applied Sciences and the University of Glasgow on how to successfully balance pedagogy, technology and spaces.
By fostering a platform for continuous learning, collaboration and innovation, the 9th Innovative Learning Spaces Summit promises to be a pivotal event in shaping the future of education and building a future where every student can thrive.
